My Social Studies teaching philosophy...
I believe Social Studies should be child centered with opportunities for students to make real life connections to self, text, and world.
I believe Social Studies should engage students in active learning utilizing a variety of activities and significant vocabulary.
I believe Social Studies should be integrated into other areas of the curriculum and differentiated to meet student needs.
I believe students should understand and appreciate cultural differences in their own country and throughout the world.
I believe students should make connections to historical events and significant people.
I believe students should learn to recognize opposing points-of-view, respect well-supported positions and think critically about people and events in our world.
